sAnastaja, the Finnish version of WordXchange, was selected as a finalist for Finland’s Game of the Year 2006, according to Prodijeux, the developer of the game.
sAnastaja was among the top three finalists vying for the prestigious award. The winner will be announced next month.
WordXchange recently won Norway’s prestigious BSG Award.
In other news, the company announced that it has begun shipping WordXchange and WordXchange Junior to Wal-Mart stores throughout Canada.
The French version of the games, AnagramPlus and AnagramPlus Junior, are already sold at Wal-Mart stores in Quebec.
“WordXchange is a family game with international appeal,” said Prodijeux in a statement. “It’s fun and challenging and its popularity is growing rapidly.”
The games have earned numerous consumer and industry awards from around the world.
The board game, for two to four players, is elegantly designed and includes 126 letter tiles, 14 white plastic easels, black velvet bag, timer and game pad. WordXchange is also available electronically on CD and online at www.highergames.com.
The object of WordXchange is to steal words by adding at least one letter to any word in front of an opposing player and rearranging the letters into a new word. But no word is safe, as players will only keep a just-stolen word until another player adds new letters to make a newer word and steal it a second time. The first player to complete six words wins.
WordXchange has earned numerous accolades and awards, including iParenting's Media Awards; Learning Magazine's Teacher's Choice Award; Oppenheim Toy Portfolio's Best Toy Award Gold Seal; Parents' Choice Silver Honor Award; Parent's Guide Award; Dr. Toy’s 10 Best Games, 100 Best Children’s Products and Best Vacation Children’s Product awards; Quebec Consumers Association Award; Canadian Toy Testing Council Award; and two Love at First Sight awards.
Anagram Development , which creates, develops and markets successful, award-winning games sold at leading retailers everywhere, is the parent company of Prodijeux, the developer of WordXchange.
In addition to creating AnagramPlus and WordXchange, Prodijeux, Inc. is also the exclusive distributor of bioViva’s Nomad and Discovery series of educational games. The Nomad series (ages 7+), including “Nature Keeps You Guess,” “Betting on Nature” and “Families in Nature,” are fun and unique card games that take players on discovery tours of our planet and introduce them to the creatures who live there.
