WORDXCHANGE FEATURED ON NORWAY SITE AS ACCLAIM GROWS

WordXchange, winner of Norway’s first-ever board game competition, received additional acclaim recently as the featured subject in an interview on the competition’s Web site.

The interview was conducted after the awards and featured news of the game’s growth in Scandinavia and elsewhere. “The plan for the future is to develop the international market through licenses and distributorships, as we did with Egmont Litor,” said Michel Chiarore, partner of Prodijeux, Inc., the parent company of WordXchange. Remo Rehder, a judge in the Norway competition, interviewed Chiarore.

Prodijeux is a subsidiary of Anagram Plus, Inc. (www.anagramdevelopment.com), which creates, develops and markets successful, award-winning games sold at leading retailers everywhere.

“This year we already signed with Egmont Kustannus (Finland) and we should sign with Egmont Serieforlaget (Denmark). We are also negotiating with a German game company for the license in Germany, and next year we expect to sign with Egmont Sweden.”

The BSG award, awarded by judges in Norway, helped secure licenses in other Scandinavian countries, and Chiarore said he expects the company to introduce WordXchange Junior in Norway next year. In the future, he said, the company might also launch a television show based on the game.

Recently, the company announced that it has begun shipping WordXchange and WordXchange Junior to Wal-Mart stores throughout Canada. The French version of the games, AnagramPlus and AnagramPlus Junior, are already sold at Wal-Mart stores in Quebec.

WordXchange, which is also available on CD and online at www.highergames.com, is played with two to four players. The object is to steal words by adding at least one letter to any word in front of an opposing player and rearranging the letters into a new word. No word is safe, as players will only keep a just-stolen word until another player adds new letters to make a newer word and steal it a second time. The first player to complete six words wins.
